The top election official in one of the nation’s most politically important counties said Wednesday she was forced out of her role just weeks before the November presidential election.
The activation will be limited to supporting state and local resources on Nov. 5.

Early voting wrapped up Friday for today's General Election. In Carson City, more than 23,300 voters had turned in accepted ballots and voted in person, according to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office. As of Oct. 1 there were 39,275 eligible voters in Carson City.
The majority of Carson City voters appear to have embraced the current composition of the Board of Supervisors even as they shot down two tax proposals to fund local roads. Preliminary results released by the Clerk-Recorder’s Office on Tuesday night show incumbent Mayor Lori Bagwell with a large lead along with incumbent Ward 4 Supervisor Lisa Schuette.
Preliminary results from Tuesday’s general election show the Carson City School Board will welcome Michelle Pedersen and Rebecca Roberts as incoming trustees and retain incumbent Mike Walker. Roberts, a Carson resident of 10 years who will represent District 2, ran unopposed and received 21,497 votes as of Thursday. She told the Appeal she appreciated the trust the community is placing in her to help make the best decisions for their children.
Late Friday night, the national media reported that Democrat Jacky Rosen was going to defeat Sam Brown for the U.S. Senate race. Rosen currently holds a, 18,000 vote lead through Friday night. “Thank you, Nevada! I’m honored and grateful to continue serving as your United States Senator,” Rosen said Friday on the social platform X. Brown, a retired Army captain who moved to Nevada from Texas in 2018, conceded defeat.
Nevada Democrats will maintain their power in the statehouse but have fallen short of securing a two-thirds supermajority in both chambers.
Lyon County Clerk Staci Lindberg reported to the Board of County of Commissioners on Friday there were few issues during this year’s General Election.
