Obituary: Katy Jo Hoffman

Funeral services for Katy Jo Hoffman, 18, a six-year resident of Carson City, will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

Born Nov. 1, 1982, IN Helena, Mont., to Don and Marilyn Hoffman, Katy had recently completed a year as a foreign exchange student in Chile and was about to begin her senior year at Carson High School.

Katy lived in Helena for her first 13 years before moving to Carson City. She was a runner in the Carson City Striders, a Rotary Exchange Student and participated in many sports. She was a volunteer at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

Katy was a Lutheran.

She is survived by her father, Don, of Helena; her mother Marilyn, of Carson City; a sister Melissa Dawn, of Reno; a brother, Brett Michael, of Helena; a paternal grandmother, Margaret, of Helena; maternal grandfather Leo Kleffner, of Townsend, Mont.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

A funeral and burial will take place in Helena.

In lieu of donations or flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Katy's favorite running camp for a memorial scholarship, Godspeed Christian Running Camp, 1102 N. Curry St., Carson City, Nev., 89703.
