Tara Theilemann of the Carson Tigersharks swam to her third top six finish in an individual event at the Western Zone Championships in Hawaii.
Theilemman placed fifth in the 400-meter freestyle on Friday in the 15-16-year-old division. After qualifying sixth in the preliminaries in four minutes, 32.32 seconds, Theilemann came back to lower her seeded time of 4:31.76 to move up to fifth in 4:31.60 in the finals.
Earlier in the week, Theilemann placed sixth in the 200 free. She qualified seventh for the final, finishing in 2:10.57, which was faster than her seeded time of 2:11.99. She then lowered her time to 2:10.44 to finish sixth in the finals.
Theilemann also helped this region's B team to a fifth place finish in the 200 free relay. Theilemann's team finished in 1:53.86.
Theilemann also placed sixth in the 200 backstroke. She qualified in the preliminaries with a time of 2:28.55, which was more than three seconds faster than her seeded time of 2:31.84. Theilemann placed sixth in the finals in 2:29.77.
In addition, Theilemann placed 19th in the 50 free in 28.78, which was faster than her seeded time of 28.89.
