A suspect in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday on Carson Street is also facing federal weapons charges.
Jorge Enrique Perez, 26, who listed "Marijuana" as an alias, was arrested on suspicion of four felony charges - including possession of two sawed-off shotguns, possession of a weapon by an ex-felon, and being under the influence of narcotics. Perez was stopped after allegedly sideswiping a car on southbound Carson Street before hitting a pole and eventually fleeing from the Bike Smith parking lot.
Perez, who recently served prison time, was reportedly driving a Mazda that did not belong to him at 9:45 p.m. when the accident occurred.
After pulling the damaged car into the bike shop parking lot, he reportedly ran north on Carson Street before being apprehended on Adams Street by Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Roy Hutchins.
During transport back to the scene, Perez reportedly started banging his head against the window of the patrol car and acting violently, said Trooper Mark Zacha. He was identified as the driver of the car by three eyewitnesses.
When the car was impounded, troopers noticed the guns and called Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents from Reno who arrested Perez on the federal charges.
Perez was also charged with several misdemeanor traffic offenses. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is set to be arraigned in federal court in Reno on Wednesday.
