Josh Brekken went 3-0 in singles and Jon McDonald and Gideon Hermanns went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Carson boys tennis team to an impressive 15-7 1/2 win over Wooster in its conference opener.
Carson (2-1, 1-0) lost to Wooster last season. "Our kids just got better," said Carson Coach Jeff Evans, whose team is made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores.
Brekken won 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 and McDonald and Hermanns won 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. Also winning for Carson in singles were Andy Araza (6-0, 6-0) and Dylan Stone (6-0). In doubles, Karl Schulz and Nick Weeks won 6-2, 6-0 and Zach Caron and Jeff Knaus won 6-0.
