Carson girls give cross-country teams a win at three-way meet

Shanna Sparks and Daryl Nourse led the Carson girls and boys cross country teams to wins in a three-way meet Wednesday with McQueen and Elko.


Carson's girls won with 25 points, placing ahead of McQueen's 30-point total for second. In the boys meet, Carson won with 38 points while Elko placed second with 54 points.


Shanna Sparks won the girls race, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 19 minutes, 18 seconds. Other results for Carson were:


Megan Zahnter (21:29, fourth); Sarah Shaw (21:40, fifth; Lindsay Dorio (21:55, seventh); Cassia Roth (22:00, ninth).


Nourse won the boys race in 16:46. Other finishes for the Carson boys were:


Jeffrey Martin (17:55, third); Andrew Peterson (18:02, fourth); Jeff Young (18:44, ninth); Justin Barber (18:56).


The Senators' next meet with be the zone championships in Reno.
