RENO -The Carson girls soccer team improved to 10-1 on the season after shutting out Wooster 10-0 on Tuesday. After scoring four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game, coach Mike Popp replaced his starters with some other players who haven't seen much playing time.

"We still have some girls with injuries, so we wanted to rest them," Popp said. "But I also wanted to get the players who haven't played that much this season to get some more game experience."

In the second half, junior goalkeeper Krissy Rose, defender Tracey Hoerth, Brighid Fronapfel, Sarah Field, and Ali Davis each scored their first goals of the season.

"In games like this, we're trying to work on some things that we need to improve on," Popp said. "Against Wooster, we focused on getting crosses in the box and ball control."

After losing their first game of the season last Tuesday against Reno, the Senators have now won two straight and outscored South Tahoe and the Colts by a combined 13-1.

"I really didn't want to go undefeated," Popp said. "The girls had to be humbled a little bit and I'd rather have them peak during zone than in the middle of the season."

However, Carson has a chance to get revenge against the Huskies as the Senators host Reno Saturday at 3 p.m.
