Carson firefighters say they are concerned about several incidents of burning trash found near the intersection of Fairview Drive and Saliman Road.

Two fires were reported in the early-morning hours on Sunday, bringing the total number of malicious fires there to six, said Carson City Battalion Chief Richard Chrzanowski.

"They have been dragging out things like trash cans and building materials and setting them on fire in the street," he said. "It ties up our resources and can be a safety issue."

Sunday's fires were reported at 3:52 a.m. in the 1100 block of Fairview Drive and at 6:01 a.m. at Sean and Silver Sage drives. Both fires were extinguished and were not a threat to homes, Chrzanowski said.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is investigating.
