Much has been said by Gov. Bush about accountability, restoration of dignity in the White House and moral issues. Reflect for a moment, if you will, on the history of the GOP occupants.
Remember Ike and Kay Summersby? They liked him. Especially when he signed the Oil Depletion Allowance Bill giving tax cuts to the oil industry. So how did he get the Gettysburg farm on the retirement pay of a general and president? Ask the oil people.
And then there was Richard Nixon, you know, the "I am not a crook" guy, who planned a cheap burglary and cover-up in the Oval Office.
Comes dear old Reagan who said, "I'll cut taxes (for who?), increase defense spending and balance the budget." Sure. The U.S. went from a lending nation to a nation with the largest debt in the history of the world, and the richest people got the tax cut. He also said, "I'll never negotiate with thugs." referring to the Iranians, while underneath, he and G. Bush were selling supplies to them. To top this off, he sent the Marines to Lebanon in an open building, only to have 241 come home in body bags. But George said he was "out of the loop," and got away with it. All this in the "honorable White House." What happened to those dignified people?
Then George Bush said nothing about his son Neal getting a "loan" from Silverado for $100,000, which was not repaid, not even a blip on his credit rating. Proof? He was able to obtain a million dollar loan from the Small Business Administration. Oh, but he was forgiven by his mother who stated publicly, "My son's done nothing wrong!"
Then comes little George, now the GOP candidate. When there were no openings in the Texas Air National Guard, they suddenly found one and it kept him out of Vietnam. Where was the accountability in all this? What happened to the dignity in the White House?
Remember the '70s when Jimmy Carter was president and there was a gas shortage, prices went sky high? Check the price of gas today and check the rise in profits for the oil companies. If that doesn't ring a bell, just look at the price of gas at the pump.
Wake up, America, the GOP stands for Greedy Oil People, and if reversed, the POG means the Party of Greed. Have we forgotten? And the governor says abortion is murder. How many people have been executed in Texas? Yes, abortion is murder, and so is capital punishment. We don't have the ability to give life, why do we think we should take it? I've never heard of an anti-abortionist offering to adopt any of those unwanted and unloved children, especially one with special needs.
