Winter weather eased off Sunday but precipitation is expected to return to the Carson City area tonight, with snow showers predicted for Tuesday.
The National Weather Service predicted a 60-percent chance of precipitation tonight with the temperature dropping from 45 degrees today to 25 degrees overnight.
A storm warning for the western Sierra slopes was issued for today, projecting a snow level of 3,500-4,000 feet today that would lower to 3,000 feet tonight. Accumulations of 5-10 inches at the 3,000-foot level and 12 inches at 6,000 feet were projected for those western sierra areas.
The stormy weather is expected to ease in the Carson City area after Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of lingering snow predicted for Wednesday and Thursday, though the high temperatures those days will only reach 39-41 degrees. The extended forecast said Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the 40s.
