Road construction will begin Monday on a stretch of routes 341 and 342 from Highway 50 East through Silver City and Gold Hill.
Granite Construction is the contractor for the project, slated for completion in early November. The $2.5 million roadbed modification project will include resurfacing, repaving and minor widening of roads.
"Some slopes will be flattened and guard rails will be extended," said Scott Magruder, Nevada Department of Transportation spokesman, noting some drainage work is scheduled but the majority of the work will be repaving.
There will be no delays on 341 north of Virginia City over Geiger Grade as that stretch has been finished, according to Magruder.
The work from U.S. 50 through Silver City and Gold Hill on routes 341 and 342 is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. No work is scheduled for major holidays or weekends.
Minor delays during construction should be expected, but Alternate Route 341, the truck route, will be open.
