Running the Turkey Trot 2000 10-kilometer race on Saturday must have felt like a jog through the park for Scott Robertson.
Just consider that two weeks before, the 41-year-old Carson City man spent 10-hours-plus laboring through the Florida Ironman Triathlon in Panama City. And last Sunday, he completed the Clarksburg Country Run 30-K in just under two hours.
By comparison, Robertson finished Saturday's Turkey Trot 10-K in a mere time of 37 minutes, 22 seconds to finish as the overall winner.
"I felt good today," Robertson said. "I was happy with my recovery from last week because I needed two IV's (at the Florida Ironman). I lost eight pounds in the race."
Michael Sharp of Kirkwood finished second overall in the 10-K with a time of 37:59 and Larry Stone of Carson City was third in 39:36.
Amy Thornquist, 28, was the first woman and sixth-place finisher overall in a time of 42:15. Ann Conlin, the Florida Ironman women's 40-44 age group winner, finished second in 44:14.
Chris Badlato, 23, of Eclipse Running in Reno, sped to first-place overall in the 5-K with a 16:11 clocking. Badlato has been on a hot streak lately, having won the Nevada Day Classic 8-K in Carson City three weeks ago in addition to double victories in the 5- and 10-K races at the Tahoe Marathon on Oct. 7-8.
Ross McMahon, 41, finished second overall in the 5-K in 17:48. Patty Howell was the first woman and fifth overall finisher in 22:32, while Stacy Williams finished 14 seconds behind.
A total of 96 runners and walkers finished the Turkey Trot, which was presented by the Sunset Rotary Club of Carson City.
