Scott Robertson and Ann Conlin, both members of the Carson Tigersharks masters swim team, will compete in the Florida Ironman Triathlon this coming Saturday in Panama City Beach, Fla.
More than 1,800 triathletes from around the world will have the chance to compete for $25,000 in prize money on a day in which they will swim 2.4 miles, bicycle 112 miles and then run a 26.2-mile marathon.
The race starts at 7 a.m. and the two Carson athletes - both are 40 years old - hope to finish in the 11-hour range. Both have been swimming in the Tigersharks masters program since its inception in September. Robertson is a veteran ironman, but this will be Conlin's first.
"I'm extremely proud of these two. They've trained very hard for this and I expect they will do well," Tigersharks coach Jack Simon said.
The ages of entrants in the Florida Ironman range from three 19-year-olds to 73-year-old Bill Albrecht of Marquette, Mich.
