The unbeaten Carson girls soccer team warmed up for a tough week ahead with an 8-1 rout against Hug.
Carson improved to 8-0, heading into two tough games Tuesday at home against Reno and Thursday at South Tahoe.
"We won just because of the way we were moving the ball around the field," Carson Coach Mike Popp said. "The ball movement was really good."
Erin Stieber scored three goals and Allie Bannister, Haley Zook, Nikki Schardin, Allison Williamson and Erica Landis all scored for Carson. Landis' goal was the highlight for Carson as she won a battle with the Hug goalie for the ball and scored while lying on the ground.
Bannister, Sarah Carmona, Stieber, Williamson and Bria Dankworth all added assists for Carson, which had 25 shots. Carson goalie Christy Rose made six saves.
Sweeper Allison Kop, Tracy Hoerth and Carmona led the defensive effort. "They're all fast," said Popp about his defensive players. "They communicate well."
