The Carson City Recreation Department and the Jam On It Basketball Academy will be offering youth basketball lessons.
Session I will be held from Nov. 12 through Dec. 10 and session II will be held from Jan. 28 through Feb. 25.
Lessons will be limited to 40 players per group. Lessons will cover all aspects of the game with individual instruction and goal setting. Each session will involved shooting, ball handling, conditioning and footwork as well as a lesson plan for the day.
Boys and girls in grades four through eight in the recreational league are eligible. Sessions will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per class or $85 per five-week program.
The program will be designed to improve fundamental skills for players participating in the recreational league.
Lessons will also be provided for high school from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Cost is $15 per class or $50 per five-week program.
Youth will work on their offensive skills. The focus will be on shooting. No contact games will be played.
In addition, Jam On It is providing competitive all-star leagues for sixth through eighth grade boys and girls.
A meeting for teams competing in the program will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Carson City Community Center.
Practice will be held for sixth through eighth grades will be held from 5:45 to 7 p.m. The Carson youth competitive all-star teams will practice for local and regional AAU tournaments and leagues.
