The Carson City Airport Authority is expected to approve a runway repair proposal using a federal grant designated to rebuild the runway.
The Authority meets at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
The authority will consider an amendment to shift money from a $3.7 million Federal Aviation Administration grant to repair cracks in the runway. The project still needs approval from the Carson City Board of Supervisors and the FAA.
The $420,000 repair work is a short-term project until the authority can reconstruct the runway in a new alignment, which could cost between $7 million and $10 million.
The authority on Thursday also will discuss removing a hill north of the present runway to make way for realigned runway.
