Center Stage Studios above Java Joe's, 319 N. Carson St., will be thrumming with the sounds of 10 bands Sunday afternoon.

The bands - some punk, some heavy metal - a rapper and a D.J. will appear to benefit Eagle Valley Children's Home.

The bands include Keen, Simple, Face it, Factor One Psychopath, Insanity, Slaphappy, Once a Day, 7 Choices, The Herose, House IX, Optimus Prime and D. J. Ecto-One.

A raffle will be held at the concert, offering a free tuxedo rental from Tux Town for the Carson High prom, free jewelry from Spear Me, and free CD certificates from JJ's Ear Candy.

"It's something feel-good for the community to get involved in," said Ben Clark, the concert's promoter, who will also be playing bass for House IX and 7 Choices. "There is a lot of diversity and exposure for up-and-coming bands and musicians."

Clark said the concert will be recorded and made into a compilation CD.

Simple, one of the bands playing at the concert, features singer/guitar player Clint Neuerburg. Other members are Ted Rauenhorst, bass, and Jeff Slagter on drums. Simple has played several shows in the Carson area and Neuerburg said he feels like the kids are getting into it. They hope to have the CD out by the end of May.

"D.J. Ecto-One is 17 and he's been doing turntables for about three years," said Clark. "He's phenomenal."

Neuerburg said that at previous shows in spite of security there have been instances of vandalism, graffiti and fights.

"People need to understand that when that stuff happens, it's our name on the line," he said. "People need to respect the local businesses, the venue and the people putting on the show. It's our time and money we invest."

"If you're going to go, be respectful to everybody who wants to go," said Dustin Stockton, a Carson High student.

Neuerburg said that although this particular show is a benefit concert most of the money they make on their regular shows goes to pay for promotions. "We pretty much break even on every show," he said. "We do it to give the kids something to do."

Clark pointed out that it's up to the people to make the concert a good community event, that's fun and for a worthy cause.
