A Carson City businessman is suing the city, charging officials with giving a neighboring business-owner preferential treatment because of the owner's ties to local government.
In a lawsuit filed earlier this month in district court, Jerry Vaccaro, manager of Capitol City Liquidators, alleges that city officials and the District Attorney's office have not pursued a 1998 order against Bill Burnaugh, former city supervisor, to stop using public land.
Vaccaro believes that despite the order, Burnaugh has continued to use the 1-acre parcel to display cars for his business Capitol City Loan.
In April 1998 Burnaugh's business was given 30-days to vacate the property.
