Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev., says the U.S. Postal Service has agreed to solicit bids for a new substation in downtown Winnemucca.
"The residents and businesses of Winnemucca deserve a convenient and close-in post office and it is my hope that the U.S. Postal Service will make this a reality as soon as possible," he said.
He said the post office was one of the key requests from residents during the Winnemucca Economic Forum he organized this past summer. He forwarded the request to the Postal Service and said he was both surprised and pleased at how quickly postal officials acted. He said postal officials plan to begin looking for a new post office location in Winnemucca next month.
