Kali Richey had two goals and Allison Williamson recorded three assists as Carson High School's girls' soccer team scored a 4-1 victory over visiting South Tahoe in a Northern 4A game on Saturday.
"The girls are playing outstanding," Carson coach Mike Popp said. "We're working on team building and communication out there, things that we'll need in the zone playoffs."
The Senators jumped out to a 2-0 lead by halftime. Richey scored in the game's first minute when Williamson found her with a good pass, and then Emily Maier added another goal in the 29th minute off an assist from Williamson.
South Tahoe's Reggie Braun opened the scoring in the second half with a goal 10 minutes in, but Carson came right back. Richey found the net in 63rd minute off a pass from Ali Banister, and then Banister scored a goal of her own eight minutes later, again assisted by Williamson.
"Williamson really makes our middle strong," Popp said. "She cuts up the middle line and really knows how to play her position."
Carson (12-2-1) has a solid hold on second place and should be a lock for zone despite a tough late-season schedule. The Senators will travel to face Douglas at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
