Carson frosh defeat Douglas

Andy Heldebrand scored six of his game-high 20 points during a game-turning third quarter run that lifted the Carson High School freshman boys basketball team to a 68-63 victory at Douglas Thursday afternoon in Minden.


Douglas led 32-31 at halftime, but Carson came out after the intermission and took a lead it extended to as many as 10 points in the third quarter.


Six different players scored during the pivotal third quarter for the Senators.


Andy Bohm also scored 11 points and Ricky Correlli added nine. Correlli shot 5-for-6 from the free throw line, all in the second half.


Craig Bell and Tyson Tiago scored 15 points each to lead Douglas offensively.


By winning, the Senators (4-3 in conference, 12-6 overall) reversed a 68-64 loss to Douglas Jan. 11 in Carson City.


J.V. GIRLS


Tarrah Kizer scored 23 points to lead Douglas to a 53-40 win against Carson.


Olivia Vasquez also scored eight points, while Amber Gwinn and Lindsay Knox added six each as the Tigers improved their Division II record to 4-2.


Carson (1-5, 6-10) was led by Jamie Padilla with 10 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Heather Beaudette, Shannon Devereaux and Megan Anderson also scored six points each for the Senators.
