Carson product Anderson a high jump winner

Alissa Anderson flew to first-place in the women's high jump for the University of Nevada at the Bruce Drummond Invitational track and field meet on Saturday in Sacramento, Calif.


Anderson, a senior from Carson City, cleared a spring season-best 5-feet, 10.-inches to win the event at Cal State Sacramento's Hornet Field - site of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in July. The jump also gave her a provisional qualifying height for the NCAA Championships.


Anderson's mark was a half inch better than the school's outdoor record she set in 1998. She set a school indoor record of 5-11. in Reno on Feb. 26.


Nevada's Erin Kelly also tied for third in the high jump with a 5-5 clearance, to go with a 42-2 mark for second-place in the triple jump.
