Carson rifle team places first

The Carson High rifle team won its first competition of the year on Saturday.


Carson hosted the shoulder-to-shoulder match at the remodeled high school rifle range. Shooters from Fallon, Incline Village, Reed, South Tahoe and Carson competed.


Carson's A team placed first overall and Carson's B team finished third out of 15 teams competing. Chad Gilmore was the top shooter for Carson, scoring 251.


Carson's novice team placed first in its category as Tony Mele earned an individual medal with a 217 score. Other individual award winners for Carson were:


Beth Ware, third in prone, first in standing; Sean Keith, third in standing; Jason Henderson, third in kneeling; and Gilmore, third overall.
