The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking more than 200 workers in Carson City and Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.
Workers recruited for the temporary positions are being offered wages between $11.25 and $12.75 an hour, flexible hours and opportunities for part- or full-time employment.
Census officials estimate that 55 employees are needed in Carson City, 115 in Douglas County, 55 in Lyon County and five in Storey County.
Regional census director Susan Lavin said the bureau knows it is competing for workers in a period of low unemployment and needs to be flexible and accommodating to meet its hiring requirements.
The bureau is targeting people already working, seniors, retirees including military and federal, people seeking second or third jobs and current employees of other federal agencies.
And the census is cooperating with the federal Welfare to Work initiative.
Prospective census workers can call the bureau's job line at 1-888-325-7733 for information.
