EAGLE LAKE: No report.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: No report.

PYRAMID LAKE: According to the Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks, "Our report is basically the same as last week.

The fish are moving around and you need to locate them.

If you are a bank fisherman or a fly fisherman and find the right beach, the fishing is great. If you fish the wrong beach, there is very little action.

Boaters have been doing well with Flatfish or Apex lures, all along the west shoreline.

Fly fishermen are doing well with dark colors, but they are also beginning to use brighter colors such as white, pink and Chartreuse.

The cutthroat have been running up to about 9 pounds."

RED LAKE: No report.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: No report.

SILVER LAKE: No report.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR: No report.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Limits of average-sized Mackinaw trout, up to 6 pounds, and an occasional rainbow. Fishing very early in the morning in 250-450 feet of water in front of the Carnelian Bay-Kings Beach area. Trolling with Herring Dodger flasher blades and pearl-colored Apex lures, live minnows or three-inch, blue-colored, rubber minnows.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: According to the Sportsmen's Sporting Goods Store at South Lake Tahoe, " The fishing has been good for Mackinaw trout and some rainbows." The Macks are average-sized and running up to about 7 pounds. Lots of fishermen on the lake, primarily due to the lack of snow for skiing. The best areas for the Mackinaws have been at Al Tahoe, Tahoe Keys and Ski Run. The best areas for the rainbows have been Logan Shoals and Elk Point on the Nevada side.

TOPAZ LAKE: Re-opened to fishing on Jan. 1. Big crowds of shore anglers and boaters. Many limits of rainbow trout in the 1-3 pound class were reported, mostly by boats. Largest trout was a 4.2 pound rainbow. Best success was with Rapala lures, either with or without flasher blades. The trout were scattered all over the lake.

WALKER LAKE: Bob Tompkins of the Gun and Tackle Store in Hawthorne reported, "The fishing has been a little slow as far as numbers caught, but the catching has been great as far as size."

On New Year's Eve, Ed Walton of Carson City reported that the two fishermen in his boat caught one cutthroat over eight pounds and two "cutts" over seven pounds. They were trolling with silver-colored Flatfish lures.

On New Year's Day, Mitch Ferguson of Hawthorne caught a 7.91 pound cutthroat on a Tor-P-Do lure while trolling in front of Sportsmen's Beach.

The best action has been in the top 10-15 feet of water.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Dennis Dunn of the Wild Horse Resort reported, "We had about 18 guests to help us bring in the New Year.

Our weather has been beautiful. Clear and cold. It gets down to -10 degrees at night and up to about 30 in the daytime.

The reservoir has about 12 inches of ice.

There have been snowmobiles and ATV's on the ice, but it is still not thick enough for four-wheel drive vehicles.

The ice fishermen are catching lots of fish. Rainbows up to 21 inches and many perch. One group of three fishermen checked in with 150 perch.

The fish are hitting nightcrawlers, Power Bait or marshmallows.

The best fishing has been in the shallow-water areas, not too much action in the deeper water."
