Limits at June Lake Loop on garlic worms

BOCA RESERVOIR: No report.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR: Andrew Sears of Ken's Sporting Goods Store reported, "Trolling at the reservoir was slow over the weekend. Best action was for boats anchored and fishing on the bottom with either Power Bait or worms."
BURNSIDE LAKE: Had a big hatch on Saturday. The fishermen on Saturday and Sunday were averaging about 3-4 brookies per person. The trout were taken on either Power Bait or worms from shore.
CAPLES LAKE: Lots of fishermen over the holiday. Windy conditions. Shore fishermen were scoring on small brook trout with inflated worms or Power Bait on the bottom.
CARSON RIVERS (EAST AND WEST) IN CALIF.:
East Carson River: No report.
West Carson River: No report.
CONVICT LAKE AND CONVICT CREEK:
Convict Lake: The biggest trout of the week were a 7.74 pound Alpers rainbow caught on a gold Kastmaster lure at the outlet, a 6.33 pound rainbow on Power Bait at the Jetty, a 6.31 pound Alpers rainbow on a rainbow mini jig and a 5.79 pound Alpers rainbow on a gold Kastmaster lure from the south shore.
Three anglers from Cypress, Calif. checked in a stringer of Alpers rainbows that weighed 27.3 pounds. They were taken trolling with gold Kastmaster and silver Super Duper lures.
Convict Creek: Two anglers checked in with a stringer that weighed 6.07 pounds. The rainbow trout were caught with red salmon eggs.
CROWLEY LAKE: No report.
DAVIS LAKE: No report.
EAGLE LAKE: No report.
FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: No report.
HEENAN LAKE: Closed until the Friday before Labor Day.
HOBART RESERVOIR: No report.
INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR: Was rated fair for the weekend. Windy conditions. The water is getting mossy. Bait fishermen were doing well from the boat ramp or from the dam. The average trout was about 1 pound. The largest was a 3-pound rainbow.
JUNE LAKE LOOP (GRANT-GULL-JUNE-SILVER LAKES-RUSH CREEK): Ernie's Sporting Goods Store at June Lake reported, "The fishermen are doing very good at all of the lakes in the loop. Calif. Fish and Game did a good job stocking lots of rainbows last week. Many of the fishermen are catching limits on garlic worms. Boy, do those worms stink. Other trout are being caught on regular worms, meal worms, Power Bait, Thomas Buoyant lures and small-sized Kastmaster lures.
The biggest trout were a 5.2 pounder from Gull Lake on a Thomas Buoyant lure and a 5 pounder from Gull Lake on Captain America Power Bait.
Rush Creek: Fishing for planter rainbows was very good.

PYRAMID LAKE: The Gilly Sporting Goods Store provided this update, "Not as many fishermen as before. Lots of water skiers on the weekends. Best bet is to plan to fish during the weekdays. The fish are beginning to move out into deeper water. Trollers are getting action trolling 10-20 feet deep. They are using Tor-P-Do, Flatfish, Kwikfish or Rapala lures. The fly fishermen are still doing good at "The Nets" with black Woolly Bugger or Woolly Worm flies."
RED LAKE: Dave Kirby of the Woodford's General Store said, "Similar to the report for Caples Lake. Lots of fishermen over the holiday. Windy conditions. Shore fishermen were scoring on small brook trout with inflated worms or Power Bait on the bottom."

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters reported, "Limits of average sized Mackinaw trout, up to 6 pounds. We're fishing in 250-450 feet of water, very early in the morning, in front of the Carnelian Bay-King's Beach area. We are trolling with Herring Dodger flasher blades, together with pearl-colored Apex lures or live minnows."
LAKE TAHOE - SOUTH SHORE: Jack Martin of the Sportsmen's Sporting Goods Store at South Lake Lake said, "It's been tough fishing due to the windy weather. It really blew hard on Monday. The Mackinaw fishing is fair. The trollers are doing well on rainbows and German browns from Emerald Bay to Rubicon Point on the California side and also in front of either Logan Shoals or Cave Rock on the Nevada side."
TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Marina checked in with this report, "Fishing has been slow due to the water level coming up from the spring run-off. The lake has come up about 10 feet in the last two weeks. Trolling is slow. Best action has been for boats anchored just offshore on the highway side. They are fishing on the bottom with worms or Power Bait. Shore fishing has been best on the southwest shore or on the east side by the outlet."
LOWER TWIN LAKE: Dan Beltran of the Lower Twin Lake Resort said, "A total of 86 rainbows with an average eight of 6 pounds were released on May 23.
The largest trout caught over the weekend were a 6-pound, 9-ounce rainbow on a gold/red Spin-A-Lure, a 5-pound, 6-ounce rainbow on a gold/red Spin-A-Lure and a 4-pound 8-ounce rainbow on a frog-pattern Super Duper lure from a float tube.
Breana Franklin of Reno caught her very first fish, a 6-ounce, 9-inch rainbow.
UPPER TWIN LAKE: Jim Wilkins reported, "The largest trout of the week was a 5.2 pound rainbow taken on yellow Power Bait. Jacqueline Lampson of Minden caught a 4.5 pound German brown on a nightcrawler. Kellen, age 6, and Corwynn, age 3, Case pulled in a 4.5 pound rainbow together. Annett's at Mono Village released 150 pounds of German brown trout, 3-6 pounds each."
VIRGINIA LAKES AND VIRGINIA CREEK:

WALKER LAKE: Bob Tompkins of the Walker Lake Guides Services reported, "The fishing was real good in front of "The Cliffs" over the weekend. Some Las Vegas anglers caught lots of cutthroat, 3-5 pounds. They were trolling in deep water near the bottom. They were using Tor-P-Do lures with the hooks tipped with Power Bait."
WALKER RIVERS (EAST-WEST-LITTLE):
East Walker River (Nevada Section): Bob Tompkins of the Gun and Tackle Store in Hawthorne reported, "The fishermen are catching lots of planter rainbows at "The Elbow" on worms, Panther-Martin or Roostertail lures."
East Walker River (California Section): Andrew Sears of Ken's Sporting Goods Store in Bridgeport, Calif. said, "The river was flowing at 190 C.F.S. It was fishing well and got lots of pressure over the holiday. A 4.2 pound rainbow on a black/gold Rapala lure and a 3 pound German brown on a minnow fly."
West Walker River (California Section): No report. Running very high, fast and muddy.
Little Walker River: Running high and fast. Limits of Eastern brook trout on worms near Obsidian Campground.
WEBER RESERVOIR: A party of fishermen caught a total of 150 crappie, 1-1.5 pounds each. They were using small crappie jigs, yellow or Chartreuse, with feathers.
WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Dennis Dunn of the Wildhorse Resort gave this report, "The weather has been very good, with a little wind. Trolling is slow now due to the trout gorging themselves on the perch fry. Bait fishing has been off and on. Those anglers catching fish are getting mostly rainbows (up to 18 inches) and a few German browns on a combination of worms and corn. A shore fisherman caught a 12-pound channel cat on worms on the south end of the reservoir."
