The Carson City Raiders Booster Club's annual Christmas Commitment fund-raiser is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at Big Al's Good Time Pizza *and stuff*, 230 Fairview Drive.
Since the booster club was founded in 1991, a fund-raiser has been held for families in need. The adopted families are supplied with necessities such as food and clothing, and a food drive to supplement supplies at area food shelters.
This year, the booster club is accepting non-perishable food items to be given to Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and batteries to keep the toys operating at the Eagle Valley Children's Home.
The public is welcome to participate. A pot-luck is being held in addition to an auction, raffle and games. Special games will be held for the children.
The club also has a full-size regulation helmet, autographed by 23 members of the Oakland Raiders, including Rich Gannon and Charles Woodson and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Tickets for the helmet are sold separately from raffle items. The winning ticket will be drawn during the Super Bowl.
