MINDEN - B.J. Lundeen won the Outstanding Lightweight Wrestler award and helped Galena High School bring home the team championship from Douglas High School's 25th annual Carson Valley Lions Club Invitational on Saturday.
Galena rolled up 210 points to capture its team title, while host Douglas scored 181 points to outdistance Fallon for second-place.
Romaine Smokey placed second in the 119-pound weight class and Carl Wymer was second at 215 pounds to lead Douglas. D'art Johnson (135 pounds), David Tingle (140), Drew Hall (160 pounds), John Hillenbrand (171) and Nate Bennett (189) were all third-place finishers for the Tigers. Tim O'Brien (103), Richard Blackowl (125), Steve Magee (130) and heavyweight Chris Baumgartner were fourth-place finishers.
"We didn't end up with any champions, we just had a lot of good performances in the consolation rounds that helped us," Douglas coach Ron Hall said.
Douglas visits Carson Wednesday for a Northern 4A conference dual meet that starts at 4 p.m.
DAYTON
The Dayton Dust Devils compiled an 0-4-1 record during 3A Division I and II crossover dual meets held Saturday in Dayton.
The Dust Devils tied Fernley, 33-33, and lost duals to Spring Creek (60-14), Tahoe-Truckee (39-30), Rite of Passage (48-32) and Battle Mountain (52-30).
Spring Creek, Rite of Passage and Battle Mountain compiled unblemished 5-0 records on the day. Yerington was 2-3.
