Gov. Kenny Guinn will address the first-ever graduating class of the state's new Public Safety Training Division on Friday.
The class consists of 27 cadets who completed 16 weeks and 626 classroom and field hours of training in subjects ranging form criminal law, arrest procedures and search and seizure to domestic violence, child abuse and crisis intervention.
The cadets represent the Nevada Highway Patrol, Capitol Police, Parole and Probation and the Nevada Division of Investigation.
The Training Division is responsible for basic law enforcement training and continuing education for peace officers. Of the 27, 19 will be assigned to duty with highway patrol, five to probation department, one to divisions of investigations and two to the Capitol Police.
Their graduation ceremonies will be at 1 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers at the Legislative Building.
