Iverson named to Board of Education

Mervin Iverson has been appointed to replace Bill Hanlon on the state Board of Education.

Iverson, of Las Vegas, is more than 44 years experience in education. He operated Advantage Resources, a financial services business catering to teachers.

He is a former school district assistant superintendent and curriculum director. He retired from the district in 1994.

"Everyone who cares about the quality of education in Nevada should feel very fortunate that someone as experienced and dedicated as Merv Iverson was available to fill the considerable void left by Bill Hanlon's departure," said Guinn.

Hanlon resigned his seat on the board after moving out of his district.

Iverson said he will dedicate himself to the responsibilities of the board to every student in the state.
