The state Legislative Commission on School Safety and Juvenile Violence will meet Dec. 2 to hash out elements of a Nevada plan to school emergencies.
The meeting will be in Las Vegas but video-conferenced to Carson City's Legislative Building.
The 11-member panel, which includes legislators, law enforcement, school administrators, teacher and parents, must develop a statewide plan to respond to school violence by January.
Sen. Valerie Wiener, D-Las Vegas, who chairs the commission, said the group will hear from Nevadans on what elements should be in the emergency plan. At its last meeting, commissioners heard from a national consultant on the subject of dealing with school violence.
Wiener said a January meeting will be necessary to put together details of the plan which must be submitted to the governor.
The January meeting is scheduled in Carson City on Jan. 5.
