Letter: Ex-neighbor supports version of dog attack

In response to Steve Ostrander' s letter, my husband and I used to live next door to these really nice people and still are very good friends with them. We lived in the same house that those damn pit bulls killed his rather mellow collie mix dog. (Obviously we moved in 1996.) I remember going over to their house and "Woofer" was the most mellow and loving dog anyone could have.

Doesn't anyone have to be responsible for the the actions of their animals anymore? If that had been my dog that was fatally attacked, I would have taken every tool in my husband's garage, including his chain saw, and taken care of business.

Pit bulls have been bred to be the most annoying and vicious animals on the face of this earth. Do you ever hear of a Golden Retriever, Collie, Lab, Beagle, Basset hound, etc. attacking people or another dog? If those dogs had inflicted harm on us humans then I guess Carson City's finest would have taken some action like shooting them as vicious animals.

So where does that leave the Ostranders? They have lost a lifelong friend to their children and themselves. So how come Animal Control did not take those pit bulls and destroy them? They do it when a human is involved. What about their new puppy they just bought? What about if it happens to him?

Let's get some justice. I'm with the Ostranders.
