GENOA - A check representing $750,000 in loan funds for rural small businesses was presented by Sen. Richard Bryan in ceremonies Saturday in Genoa.

In a presentation at Genoa Tree & Landscape Materials, Bryan gave the check, signifying a 1-percent interest-rate loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, to the Rural Nevada Development Corp.

"Genoa Tree & Landscape Materials is just one example of the type of small business that has benefited from the highly successful partnership between the Rural Nevada Development Corp., the USDA Rural Development and Jim Cline of the Community Business Resource Center in Carson City," said Ferrel Hansen, Rural Nevada Development Corp. executive director.

Rural Development is a branch of the USDA with loan and grant programs for rural business, housing and infrastructure needs. More than $2.8 million in Rural Development funds have been received by the Rural Nevada Development Corp. since 1992.
