A Carson City man was arrested Monday on felony charges after an alleged shoplifting at Smith's grocery store on Highway 50 East turned into a scuffle between the man and a store employee.

Henry Wojtowicz, 42, was arrested in the parking lot after he reportedly attempted to steal a pack of cigarettes and was stopped by the employee. According to a witness's testimony, Wojtowicz admitted the theft and when the employee asked him to come back inside the two started wrestling.

During the scuffle, the pair fell to ground and the employee injured his knee. Bystanders pinned Wojtowicz down until deputies arrived and took him to the Carson City Jail.

The employee was taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital where he was treated for the injured knee.

Wojtowicz was booked on charges of battery with substantial bodily harm, shoplifting and contempt of court for an alleged parole violation. Bail was set at $17,500.
