According to a recent press release from Trout Unlimited (TU), Matt Holford has been hired as the first executive director of TU's Nevada Council.
Holford is a past TU Nevada Council chairman and chapter president.
He has worked on a wide variety of coldwater conservation issues in Nevada and neighboring states.
Those projects include Lahontan cutthroat trout and Bonneville cutthroat trout restoration and protection for the endangered bull trout.
He was named TU National Conservationist of The Year in 1997.
Holford is one of five nominees for the 1999 Budweiser Sportsman of The Year award.
Trout Unlimited is North America's leading coldwater conservation organization.
It is dedicated to the conservation, protection and restoration of trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds.
The organization has more than 110,000 members in 472 chapters in North America, including over 600 members in Nevada.
