GARDNERVILLE - The "Stew Carnall Memorial" Christmas Toy Run is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16.
"If you have not purchased a toy, now is the time to do so," said Sharkey's Nugget spokeswoman Elaine Agnason.
This event is being sponsored by Sharkey's Nugget, Carson-Tahoe Harley-Davidson and Nevada Wandering Wheels. This event will assist Project Santa Claus in Douglas County, an affiliate of Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Bikers will gather at 10 a.m. at Carson-Tahoe Harley-Davidson and proceed to Sharkey's Nugget at 1440 Highway 395 South, Gardnerville.
The event was named after Stew Carnall who was a well-known Gardnerville resident and entertainment promoter who died in 1998.
"You need not be a club member nor do you need to be a biker," Agnason said. "Everyone is welcome. You must, however, provide a new, unwrapped toy or toys."
The toys are to be delivered to Sharkey's, where donors will receive one free beverage and a raffle ticket for a variety of motorcycle items. Live music and free gifts will be available to participants. For information, call 782-3133.
"Surely you will enjoy viewing the fabulous bikes, many of which will be decked out in holiday decorations," Agnason said. "This is quite a show in itself."
Project Santa Claus, a non-profit organization manned solely by volunteers, attempts to provide new Christmas gifts to children who may not otherwise have a joyous Christmas.
