A memorial service for Donald Walton Ensminger, 81, a Carson City resident since 1978, will be at 1 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
Mr. Ensminger died March 4, 2000, at Sierra Convalescent Center. He was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Stillwell, Ill., to William and Inez Greer Ensminger.
He was a self-employed contractor in the building industry. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masons.
Mr. Ensminger enjoyed fishing and grinding, polishing and making jewelry from stones and rocks. He loved to travel.
Mr. Ensminger lived in South Lake Tahoe from 1958 to 1978 and also lived in Oklahoma City for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Exie LaVonne Ensminger, in December 1997.
Among his survivors are a son, Donald Walton Ensminger Jr. of Tahoma; three daughters, Leora Denise Ensminger of Carson City, Dian Elaine Larson of Gardnerville and Donna Luella Ensminger of Tatum, N.M.; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra in Carson City.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
