A memorial service for J. Wayne Schumacher, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 58 years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Schumacher died Oct. 18, 1999, at Nevada Cares. He was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Grand Mound, Iowa, to Jack F. and Amelia Schlemma Schumacher.
He married Betty L. Peck Aug. 5, 1951, in Carson City.
He graduated from Maquoketa High School in Iowa.
Mr. Schumacher retired from the State of Nevada Employment Security Division after 30 years of service. He was a member of the 20/30 Club, the Eagles, the Lions and Veterans of Foreign Wars Kit Carson Post 3726.
He served in the U.S. Army Eighth Armored Division in the medical corps.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, July 22, 1985, in Carson City.
Among his survivors are his daughter, Lynda Gotelli, of Carson City; sisters, Phyllis Duff, of Lubock, Texas, and Shirley Morehead, of Delmar, Iowa; brother, Wendell, of Carson City; two nieces and one nephew.
Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.
