Obituary: John Calhoun Hargis III

John Calhoun Hargis III, 83, a Carson City and Gardnerville resident for the past nine years, died May 1, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center. He was born March 13, 1917, in Kiowa, Kan., to John II and Ruth Richardson Hargis.

Before moving to this area, he lived in Elkhart, Kan.

Mr. Hargis was a real estate appraiser. He enjoyed reading and spending time with friends at the Senior Center in Carson City.

He was a member of the Unity Church of Today in Genoa.

He was preceded in death by his son, John IV in 1998.

Among his survivors are his wife, Donna of Carson City; daughters, Patricia Crane of Yuba City, Calif., Pamela Rodgers of West Salem, Wis. and Jessica Gracie of Eureka, Calif.; two brothers; one sister; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

No service is scheduled at this time.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
