A graveside service for John David Willcox, 71, a Gardnerville resident for the past 10 years, will be at 11 a.m. today at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
Mr. Willcox died April 28, 2000, at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe. He was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Palo Alto, Calif., to John F. and Martha E. Whitaker Willcox.
He married Rebecca C. Martin March 9, 2000, at Lake Tahoe.
He earned a master of arts degree in business education in 1956 from San Francisco State University.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Walnut Creek, Calif.
Mr. Willcox was a school teacher for 27 years including 18 years with the Acalanes High School District at Los Lomas and Miramonte, Calif. In addition to teaching, he also worked for Meadow Gold Ice Cream, Quaker Oats Co., W.P. McDowell Manufacturing and Sears, Roebuck & Co. as a sales representative.
He was a Christian. He enjoyed sailing and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.
Among his survivors are his wife, Rebecca of Gardnerville; son, John F. of Winnemucca; daughter, L. Savannah Nash of Gardnerville and sister, Mary Beth Bruch of Los Altos, Calif.
