Jose Ortabe, 79, a Walker Lake resident for the past four years and former Dayton resident, died June 2, 2000, at Fallon Convalescent Center.
He was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Navarra, Spain, and moved to the United States in 1954.
Mr. Ortabe was a hand on sheep and cattle ranches. He was a Catholic.
Among his survivors are his wife Juanita M. Hartung Ortabe of Walker Lake; sons Richard Dudley and Gary Groettum, both of Walker Lake, Ray Dudley of Stagecoach and David Koroski or Washington State; daughters Sandra Dudley of Reno, Donna Jones of Arkansas and Gail Trythall of Oregon; brother Hilaro and two sisters, all of Spain; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held.
Gunter's Funeral Home, Hawthorne, is in charge of arrangements.
