Joseph Henry Letender, 72, a Carson City resident for the past 11 years, died May 12, 2000, at his home. He was born June 28, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Henry and Mary Able Letender.
He married Betty Maxwell Oct. 16, 1952, in Yuma, Ariz.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Southern California.
Mr. Letender served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1964 with the rank of DC 1 (Damaged Controlman 1st Class). He was active in the Fleet Reserves Association for many years and he enjoyed music and played drums as a child.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael in 1997.
Among his survivors are his wife, Betty of Carson City; sons, Joseph of Hemet, Calif. and John, of Carson City; daughters and husbands, Cynthia and Ed Dimich of Billings,Mont. and Susan and Mark Juelg of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
No service will be held.
Crematory will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
