A memorial service for Malcolm W. Smith, 73, a Gardnerville resident for the past 11 years, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Chapel in Carson Valley with Pastor Daniel Steen officiating.
Mr. Smith died April 28, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Rich and Helen Richards.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in North Hollywood, Calif.
Mr. Smith was a manager for the California Department of Motor Vehicles for 30 years. He loved spending time with his family and traveling to visit his family. He enjoyed going to the Carson Valley Inn. Mr. Smith was a Christian. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret, in February 1999.
Among his survivors are his sons, Paris R. Romano of Fortuna, Calif., Gavin Smith of West Hills, Calif. and Gregory X. Smith of Reno; daughter, Tara C. Addeo of Minden; sister, Susan Morrisey of Butler, Pa. and eight grandchildren.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
