Nancy Welsh Heckel, 57, a long-time Carson City resident, died March 25, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born Jan. 21, 1943, in Monroe, N.C., to John and Ruth Davis Welsh.
She received a Ph.D. degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived in San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Heckel was a physiologist. In the early 1980s, she worked in mental health for the State of Nevada in Winnemucca.
Among her survivors are her husband, Tyson Harris, of Carson City; son, Peter Wludyka, of Las Vegas; daughter, Deidre Seim, of Kentucky; brother, John Welsh, of South Carolina and two grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
