A funeral Mass for Thomas Lewis, 88, a Reno resident for the past 51 years, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church.
Mr. Lewis died June 1, 2000, at Carson Healthcare. He was born April 11, 1912, in New Bedford, Mass., to Joseph and Eliza Kilshaw Lewis.
He married Elizabeth Alice Moulton Aug. 8, 1936, at St. Kilian's Church in New Bedford. She preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1998.
Before moving to Reno, he lived in Massachusetts.
Mr. Lewis was a gas serviceman for Sierra Pacific, and he retired June 1, 1974 after 25 years of service. He was a member of IBEW. He was a singer, appearing in many light operas in New Bedford and had sung in the Sierra Nevada Chorale in Reno. He loved his yard, photography, fine food, wines and music.
He was a Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Snows. He served in the National Guard in Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother John on July 5, 1910, sister Mary July 17, 1966, and great-grandson Dylan Inskip on Dec. 12, 1991.
Among his survivors are his daughters Nancy Johnson of Carson City and Linda Melillo of Reno; son Thomas of Reno; sister Cecelia Braithwaite of New Bedford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two nephews.
Burial will follow the church service.
