A funeral service for former Carson City resident Walter E. Deighton, 93, who lived in Nevada since 1956, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Carson City.
Mr. Deighton died Nov. 3, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno.
He was born Dec. 10, 1905, in Meeker, Colo., to William M. and Alice Dunham Deighton.
A miner, he managed mines in Fallon and in Idaho. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Deighton was a member of the Masons since 1939 and of the Shriners since 1966, In 1982, he moved from Carson City to Reno.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marg Hill Deighton, in December, and brothers Herbert, Earl, Harold and Iner Deighton.
Survivors include daughter Molly Earnhart and son William, both of Carson City; son Lawrence of Mexico City, Mexico; seven grandchildren, and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mr. Deighton's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
