Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the Minden Medical Center, corner of Ironwood and Highway 395. Guest speaker is Tom Streenan, N7AC, club member, who will discuss low power communications.

Many amateur radio operators enjoy the challenge of making long distance radio contacts with five or less watts of power. The FCC allows a maximum of 1500 watts for most frequencies. Streenan will relate his own experiences and describe what kind of radios and antennas are most effective for this aspect of the hobby.

Those interested in amateur radio are welcome to attend the meeting. SIERA is an open club that meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month and an informal breakfast the fourth Saturday of each month.
