Near-record warm temperatures gave Carson City residents some extra time to clean up their yards before cold winter winds do it for them.
Carson City temperatures reached 71 degrees Saturday afternoon.
However, at least three Northern Nevada towns broke records on Friday.
Ely, Elko and Winnemucca all climbed to their warmest Nov. 12 readings ever and, even with a cloud cover, Reno wasn't far behind.
Winnemucca climbed to 72 on Friday, nudging its 1990 mark by 1 degree. Ely warmed to 71, 2 degrees above its 1990 reading and Elko hit 70. Its previous high for the date was 68 in 1967.
Fourteen years earlier, Winnemucca woke up to minus 8.
Other records on Friday were 70 in Austin, 74 in Battle Mountain, 72 in Wells and 70 in Eureka.
Reno stopped at 71 as the clouds rolled in. Its record was 73. Las Vegas also fell short of its 81-degree mark at 78.
In the Sierra, where two ski resorts chanced early openings on Thursday, temperatures soared into the low 60s under mostly sunny skies.
With readings in the north running about 20 degrees above normal for mid-November, forecasters say temperatures are expected to get even warmer today before a weak disturbance moves in on Monday to return conditions to somewhat more seasonable conditions.
The city will be picking up garden and yard debris for those residents who take advantage of today's beautiful weather to clean up.
The Carson City Street Operations Division will be sending crews to pick up garden and yard debris starting Monday at 7 a.m. Leaves must be bagged and limbs must be less than six feet long, tied in bundles.
There is no specific day or time when the crews will be in a specific neighborhood, so have everything ready and on the curb in clear view Monday. Crews will work their way around town through Thursday. If your house is missed, call the street division at 887-2345 early Friday, and a truck will be sent to your home.
