The annual Carson City Turkey Trot is set for Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Straw Hat Pizza Restaurant at 127 Clearview Drive, across the street from Wal-Mart.
This year's event includes a new beneficiary as well as a new race distance and course. The beneficiary will be the Ross Clinic at FISH and the race is being sponsored by the Sunset Rotary Club of Carson City.
This year's course will be 10 kilometers, slightly longer than last year's eight-kilometer Turkey Trot. There will also be a two-mile run/walk starting at 9:15 a.m.
Awards will be given out in 11 age divisions in the 10K and two-mile races; all participants will receive a t-shirt and refreshments will be provided by Straw Hat.
To enter the event or for information, stop by Fleet Feet Sports at 3807 S. Carson St. or call 883-3361. Discount entry fees are available for families and members of the Sagebrush Stompers, Tahoe Mountain Milers and Silver State Striders.
