Carson City's Sagebrush Stompers running club will hold its monthly Alpine County road trip on Saturday.
The group meets at the Fleet Feet Sports store at 8:10 a.m. and will drive to Woodfords to join the Tahoe Mountain Milers at 9 o'clock near the Carson River bridge. The final destination is Grover's Hots Springs, located above Markleeville.
The gathering gives runners and walkers a chance to cover any distance and pace of their choosing, according to Tim Tetz of Fleet Feet Sports. For example, well-conditioned runners may opt to try the challenging 10.5-mile distance from Woodfords to Grover's.
"There are several different distances and courses," Tetz pointed out. "You can walk or run any distance your heart, lungs, and mind desires. The weather should be beautiful and the fresh snow (from this week) ought to make it all the more stunning."
As usual, we encourage you to bring your own brunch/breakfast items for a post-run food extravaganza. Call us if you are coming."
On March 11, the Sagebrush Stompers will meet at Carson High at 8 a.m. for the warm-up to the annual Make-a-Wish Run in Carson City. The group will run and walk the 10k and 2 mile courses.
The third annual Make-a-Wish Run will be held March 18, starting from Carson High.
On April 8, the second Annual Jesters Jog will be held at the Pinion Plaza.
The 5- and 10-K event will benefit the Carson City Children's Museum.
